Welcome to Abercastle Campsite
I’m so glad you found us.
Camping has always been part of my life. From when I was a baby, I camped with my family in both tents and caravans all over the UK, Europe, America and Africa. Some of my fondest memories are of those adventures – exploring new places, living simply, and always being outdoors. One thing I especially loved while camping in France was how many sites offered large, individual pitches – giving families their own space, a bit of privacy, and a closer connection with nature.
So when the opportunity came to set up a campsite here on my land at Garn Isaf, I knew just what I wanted to create. With groundwork carried out across the property, we had plenty of excess stone and earth – and, with the support and permission from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, we decided to shape it into traditional hedgebanks between most pitches.
These not only provide natural privacy and shelter for campers, but also create fantastic wildlife habitats, which have become a haven for birds, insects, and small mammals. It fits perfectly with the character of Pembrokeshire – the land of the little fields – and helps the site blend beautifully into its surroundings.
The Camping Experience
The site itself is quiet, simple, with individual large pitches, a fire pit, picnic table, water supply close by, and EHU if required, with great clean plumbed-in facilities – including:
- Hot showers
- Toilets
- Washing-up sinks
- Wash hand basins
- Fridges
- …and remains close to nature, exactly how camping should be.

Meet the Residents
After you’ve had a chance to relax at your pitch…
We also have “the ladies” who live here – our lovely, elderly sheep who moonlight as the campsite’s off-season grass cutters. At the moment, we have Snowy, Cinders, and Mary, all over 13 years old. They often use me as a rubbing post and love a cuddle! If you’d like to say hello with me during your stay, that’s absolutely fine – though they can be a little shy with new visitors, so a few sheep nuts help to break the ice. We’re also hoping to welcome four new sheep soon to join them and keep the tradition going.
A Great Base to Explore
Whether you’re passing through just for the night – walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, cycling, or touring with your tent, campervan, motorhome, or caravan – or settling in for a week or more, it’s a brilliant base to explore all that Pembrokeshire has to offer, and even further afield to Carmarthen and Cardigan.
I hope you’ll find the same joy here that I’ve always found in camping: freedom, fresh air, and a deep connection to the land and water around us. I feel incredibly privileged to welcome new guests here – and absolutely love welcoming back our regulars, many of which have now become friends – some who have been coming since the very beginning in 2005, and others catching up with 10 or 12 years of holidaying here.
It’s How I Think Camping Should Be
And I look forward to welcoming you here and letting you see for yourself.
